The person who tends to the bar can also be called a mixologist because they are expert in cocktails. Macaully Caulkin drinks a scotch mist, which is two ounces of scotch with a lemon twist. Sarah Jessica Parker likes a Mandhandler, which is 3/4 ounces of vodka, 3/4 ounces Jack Daniels, 3/4 ounces Southern Comfort, and 3/4 ounces Sloe gin.
The most requested cocktail bartenders are asked to make is the martini. One serving needs 2 oz Gin, 1/2 oz dry vermouth, and one olive. A favorite party drink is sangria. These ingredients require chilling: 25 oz bottle dry red wine, 1/2 cup brandy, 1/3 cup orange juice, 2 cups ginger ale, chilled 1/3 cup frozen lemonade, 1/2 cup orange-flavored liqueur, and 1/4 cup lemon juice. Mix all the ingredients except the ginger ale. Refrigerate until chilled. Just before serving, stir in the ginger ale. Garnish with fruit, if desired. This serves 12 people. Bartending is an exciting way to make money, an enjoyable experience, and a complete headache. You are the center of the party with everyone trying to get your attention. On the other hand, you have to make drinks as fast as you can. You can have some nice conversations with the customers who tip well, but you can also have customers who whine and give you a low tip.
You don’t have to go to bartending school, but most bartenders say that it makes the job easier. A bartender doesn’t need a license either. However, the Alcohol Seller/Server Certification ensures that the bartender employee understands liquor laws and will act responsibly.
